In an affadavit executed Feb 10, 1852 James Flatt stated he was 63 years
of age and a resident of Hardin County, Tenn. and had
served as a private in the company commanded by Capt Lex S. Bacon in the
Tennessee Regiment of Tennessee Volunteers in the
war with the Creek Indian. Volunteered at Kingston, Roane County,during
the Creek Indian Wars,about 1 OCT 1813 for 3 mos
and was honorably discharged in Roane Co on 1 Jan 1814. This info is in
the National Archives. Military Records War 1812

On 17 OCT 1814 James Flatt gave a $1250 bond to the State of Tennessee
enabling James Flatt of Roane County, TN to marry
Rebecca Rice of the same county. They were married by Thomas McMullin,
J.P. on 17 OCT 1814. John Rice also a bondsman.
Note from FAYE about Mary Bailey, one living in Baltimore in 1790,
another born in Virginia about 1800, who apparently was
a sister to James Flatt. Both were bound to be Flatts.???
Faye also says that James A Flatt was born in VA in 1789 (family living
in Harford County) Had 4 brothers born Maryland (he was the
youngest)
Mary Baily and Elizabeth Flatt swore they were present at the marriage of
James and Rebecca Flatt on or about 20 OCT 1814 and
at the death of James Flatt at his residence in Hardin County, TN, on or
about 10 FEB 1854. (Notes from the James Flatt Bounty

The Flatts settled in Maryland, to Virginia, then Kentucky, then Tennessee
